Known for their affluent high streets, family-friendly communities and proximity to Manchester, Altrincham and Hale are two of the most sought-after locations in Cheshire. These neighbouring towns combine vibrant local amenities with easy commuting and excellent schools, making them a popular choice for both families and professionals.

Both towns are renowned for their schooling options including Altrincham Grammar School for Boys & Girls which are consistently top-performing state schools in the region. There’s also Hale Barns Primary, Stamford Park, Broadheath Primary and Ashfield Primary as well as St Ambrose College – a state Catholic grammar school with an excellent reputation. There are several reputable nurseries in the local area that feed into the above schools – and some even have waiting lists for up to a year!

Altrincham has a direct Metrolink link to Manchester and you could be in the city centre in 25 minutes. Hale is close to Altrincham station. Hale Village is lined with independent boutiques and bigger brands such as Marks & Spencer, Bella Diosa, Vikings, The Edit, Suka Boutique and Serendipity. Altrincham also has several big-name high street brands but one thing that really attracts visitors and locals alike is its market.
Here, you can expect standout independent stalls selling street food, home decor, jewellery and local produce. The Trafford Centre is a short drive away too – where you can find something for everyone.

In Altrincham, there’s also Bar Etna, Unagi, The Con Club and Tre Ciccio. And, of course, the market which is open morning, noon and night for incredibly delicious street food and snacks.
